Ernesto Sanchez
Senior Pastor
Pastor Sanchez is a United Methodist pastor with 25 years of ministry experience serving congregations in Puerto Rico, New York, and Texas. He also served in Djibouti, Africa during his time in the military, experiences that helped shape his deep commitment to faith, community, and compassionate leadership.
Originally from Puerto Rico, Pastor Sanchez carries a strong love for culture, people, and the Church’s calling to reflect the diversity of God’s kingdom. He is especially passionate about bilingual ministry and creating spaces where individuals and families from all backgrounds can encounter Christ in authentic and life-giving ways.
His approach to ministry centers on helping people feel they belong, grow in their relationship with God, and discover meaningful ways to serve others. Pastor Sanchez believes the church is at its best when it meets people where they are and walks alongside them with grace, hope, and clarity.
Pastor Sanchez and his wife, Ivette Candelario, are grateful for the opportunity to serve at Agape Memorial United Methodist Church and look forward to building relationships across both the English and Spanish-speaking congregations as one church in Christ.
Outside of ministry, Pastor Sanchez enjoys music, plays several instruments, loves a good game of chess, and treasures time spent with family, especially his five grandchildren.

El Pastor Sanchez es un pastor de la Iglesia Metodista Unida con 25 años de experiencia ministerial sirviendo congregaciones en Puerto Rico, Nueva York y Texas. También sirvió en Djibouti, África durante su tiempo en el ejército, experiencias que ayudaron a formar su profundo compromiso con la fe, la comunidad y un liderazgo compasivo.
Originalmente de Puerto Rico, el Pastor Sanchez lleva en su corazón un gran amor por la cultura, las personas y el llamado de la Iglesia a reflejar la diversidad del reino de Dios. Tiene una pasión especial por el ministerio bilingüe y por crear espacios donde personas y familias de todos los trasfondos puedan encontrarse con Cristo de maneras auténticas y transformadoras.
Su enfoque ministerial se centra en ayudar a las personas a sentirse que pertenecen, crecer en su relación con Dios y descubrir maneras significativas de servir a los demás. El Pastor Sanchez cree que la iglesia está en su mejor momento cuando recibe a las personas tal y como están y camina junto a ellas con gracia, esperanza y claridad.
El Pastor Sanchez y su esposa, Ivette Candelario, agradecen la oportunidad de servir en Agape Memorial United Methodist Church y esperan con entusiasmo desarrollar relaciones entre las congregaciones en inglés y en español, creciendo juntos como una sola iglesia en Cristo.
Fuera del ministerio, al Pastor Sanchez le apasiona la música, toca varios instrumentos, disfruta una buena partida de ajedrez y valora profundamente el tiempo con su familia, especialmente con sus cinco nietos.
